Here Are 3 Things You Can Do To Increase Your Sales This Fall (2021)

Sep 17, 2021

As the leaves change colors and the air begins to crisp up, this is one of the best times to be a bartender. People flock to the bars this season and it is good to have strategies to make the most of the traffic.

To strategize for fall, let us focus on what people (bar guests) love about it. As mentioned, the cooler weather brings people out so they can wear their boots, scarves and jackets with a fresh color palate.

Collages are in full party mode as the student have not buckled down on their studies. Many corporate events take place as the holiday and shopping season ramps up.

People are already spending money, you can smell "blood" in the air and you know a huge chunk of money has your name on it.

Below are some of my favorite strategies I use to not only make as much money as possible but have as much fun as possible.

Remember the name of the game is volume...

1. Dress the Part

As I mentioned, this is the season for binging. Winter is coming, it will be cold soon and the urge is to eat drink and be merry.

  •  Sportswear - be apart of your guests experience by sharing enthusiasm for fall sports. Figure out what teams people want to watch in your bar and decorate the bar to support that team on game day. Dress in the team’s colors and even come up with drink specials and food to match. The goal is to tie the loyalty for their team with loyalty for your bar. This will help to keep them in the bar longer, binging on your products

  •  Holiday Cheer - Play up the army of holidays that are coming. Accessorize with festive items to intensify the vibes. Use drink specials to pull people in the keep them there with the vibe.

2. Develop a Fall Forward Cocktail list

For fall (or any season’s) cocktails, the trick is to match the flavors of the cocktails to the flavors the food that is available locally at the time. Use these flavors to complement the vibe you have created.

Fall Flavors to Mix With - For Infusing, smoking, juicing, or muddling

  •  Fruits - Apples, Blackberry, Pears, Pomegranate, Cranberry, Pumpkin
  •  Sweets - Maple Syrup, Honey, Vanilla, Chocolate
  •  Herbs/ Roots/ Bark - Rosemary(pine), Thyme, Cinnamon, Ginger, Horseradish, Sage, Chai, Earl Grey, Pepper, Nutmeg

3. Lean On Beer

Beer is like a drinkable miracle that happens to shine best in the fall. Beer on an instinctual level offers your body many of the things it craves this time of year. Sugar for energy, carbs for calorie storage to prepare for a cold and dark winter, and alcohol to help stave off the cold.

Beer is also easy to serve. Many of the busiest bar days of the year take place in the fall. Add in the corporate parties and collage breaks and you can get backed up with high end cocktails.

Selling beer is a fantastic way to take the pressure off of service.
